WATCH: Delhi CM Kejriwal Receives Warm Welcome From Wife Sunita, Mother After Spending 50 Days In Jail

The Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until June 1 for Lok Sabha elections campaigning and has asked him to surrender on June 2.

After the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party supremo was seen meeting his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, and mother Gita Devi after spending 50 days under custody. The top court has granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal for 21 days in the Delhi Liquor Policy case, in view of the Lok Sabha elections campaigning, which will go on till June 1, asking him to surrender on June 2.

The Delhi CM was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, in connection with a case related to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi government's now scrapped excise policy for 2021-22.

The interim bail was granted by a bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta, which noted that "21 days here or there should not make a difference" and that the Delhi CM can surrender after concluding his election campaigning after June 2.

The apex court also stated that it would try to complete the hearing of Kejriwal's petition, challenging the arrest by the Enforcement Directorate at the earliest.
