As Delhi battles the flood situation after the rise in the water level of the Yamuna due to heavy rains, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that several important decisions were taken during the DDMA meeting. He said that schools, colleges, and universities will remain closed till Sunday and all government offices, except those providing essential services, will have to Work from Home. Kejriwal said that water rationing will be done in the national capital as three Water Treatment Plants are shut due to which people will face water crisis for a day or two.   


Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "We had a DDMA meeting. Several important decisions were taken. Schools, colleges & universities will remain closed till Sunday. All Govt offices, except those providing essential services, will have Work from Home. Advisory is being issued for private offices too to Work for Home. Water rationing will have to be done as 3 Water Treatment Plants are shut and people will face water crisis for a day or two. Heavy vehicles, except those providing essential services, that enter Delhi will not be allowed. There were issues of toilets and bathrooms at relief camps. So, the camps are being shifted to schools," as quoted by ANI.






Earlier in the day, Kejriwal requested the people in Delhi to not step out of their homes unnecessarily and resort to Work From Home. "...I would like to request people to not step out if it is not essential and resort to Work From Home. We have closed the schools in affected areas. We are also trying to provide all facilities at the relief camps," Kejriwal said, as quoted by ANI.


The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on Thursday following the continuous rise in the water level in the Yamuna, which has severely affected the traffic movement in the city. In the advisory, the city’s Traffic Police have advised commuters to avoid certain routes due to waterlogging and flood situations. Massive traffic snarl seen in Sarai Kale Khan area today, due to traffic diversion following waterlogging in different parts of the city.


According to the advisory, residents have been asked to avoid the following roads: Mahatma Gandhi Marg between IP Flyover and Chandgi Ram Akhara, Mahatma Gandhi Marg between Kalighat Mandir and Delhi Secretariat, and Outer Ring Road between Wazirabad Bridge and Chandgi Ram Akhara.
