Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday after seven of its MLAs were suspended from the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The legislators were supended for the remainder of the Budget Session for interrupting the Lietuenant Governor's address.
"A few days back in the upper house of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, it was seen that a few members were suspended for the time till the report of privilege committee came," said Bharadwaj on Friday.
"These small houses (state assemblies) take inspiration from the biggest house (parliament)... Interrupting LG address was a big issue and according to the code of conduct, it is to be seen as contempt of the house," he added.
During the Lt Governor's address on Thursday, the saffron party MLAs interrupted his speech several times as they sought to attack the Arvind Kejriwal government.
The suspension came on a resolution moved by AAP MLA Dilip Pandey who sought action on this issue, as per a PTI report.
The AAP MLA alleged that the opposition members acted in a "planned manner" while disrupting the LG's address which lowered the prestige of the House."It was unprecedented and unfortunate," he said.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel accepted the resolution and said that the matter will be sent to the Privileges Committee.

All the seven BJP MLAs barring Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri will remain suspended from the proceedings of the House till the report is pending.
The Speaker later asked the seven members — Mohan Singh Bisht, Ajay Mahawar, OP Sharma, Abhay Verma, Anil Vajpayi, Jitender Mahajan and Vijender Gupta — to leave the chamber of the House. Bidhuri, too walked out of the House in protest.
