BJP MLA Vijender Gupta was suspended from Delhi Assembly on Tuesday for allegedly obstructing the proceedings of the House. Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel suspended Guta for a year till next Budget session, PTI reported.

On Tuesday, the BJP MLA gave a notice for breach of privileges over alleged leaking of Budget details. Reacting to this, Speaker Goel said such notices required to be given three hours before the start of a session.

"As per rules, such a notice needs to be given three hours before. You are also saying that it should be taken up for discussion. It seems the aim is to create a ruckus and waste the time of the House," PTI quoted the Speaker as saying.

In his notice, Gupta mentioned the leaking of details of the 'Outcome Budget', which was tabled in the Assembly on Monday.

As the House reconvened after 2 pm, Gupta again raised the issue, leading to a war of words between the AAP and BJP. AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha demanded that the veteran BJP leader be expelled for a year.

The motion was passed by the House and Gupta was suspended from the Delhi Assembly proceedings till the next Budget session in 2024.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday approved the Delhi Budget 2023-24 and conveyed it to the Delhi government.

The Delhi government's Budget for 2023-24, which was scheduled to be presented on Tuesday, was put on hold after the Home Ministry sought clarifications from the AAP government as its budget proposal had high allocations for advertisement and relatively low funding for infrastructure and other development initiatives.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvnd Kejriwal had on Monday alleged that the Centre had conspired to stop the Budget of Delhi.

A source in the Lieutenant Governor's office told PTI that AAP was "deliberately making false statements with the sole purpose of misleading the people of Delhi and the media and distracting them from the failures of the government".
