All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday took a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government's decision to organise 'Sundarkand' recitation programmes across all the 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi on Tuesday. Owaisi said that the decision was taken because of the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple being held on January 22.

The Hyderabad MP took to X to target the Aam Aadmi Party saying that they maintained silence on the issue of Bilkis Bano and had said they only want to talk on the issues like education and health.

"Is Sunderkand recital education or health," Owaisi said.

Speaking about his tweet on Tuesday to news agency ANI, the AIMIM chief said, "When I saw that the Delhi CM and his government have decided that there will be Sunderkand Path and Hanuman Chalisa recitation every Tuesday, I tweeted this - how are you different from the BJP? There is no difference between BJP-RSS and you."

"Look at their hypocrisy...You are walking the path of Narendra Modi. You want to do what he is doing...The politics of competitive Hindutva is being adopted," he added.

Reacting to Owaisi's comment, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "I don't think I should respond to him. I would pray to Lord Hanuman to bless him as well. No political party should object to a good program like Sunderkand Paath recitation. If they are objecting, it is not right."

On Monday, Bharadwaj announced that the Sundarkand reciation will programme will begin on Tuesday at all assembly constituencies. It will be held every Tuesday at the zonal level, on every second and last Tuesday of the month at the ward level and every first Tuesday of the month at the assembly constituency level.
