'Kejriwal On Verge Of Mental Bankruptcy': BJP As Court Junks PIL Seeking His Removal As CM

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari commented on Delhi HC junking the plea seeking removal of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal from his post stating that the saffron party accepts what the court said.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday junked the plea filed in court seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from the Delhi Chief Minister position, stating that there was "no scope for judicial interference." Commenting on the same, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari stated that the party accepts what the court has said. However, he also stated that if "Arvind Kejriwal wants to call the court political, then this is his mental bankruptcy."

He also hit out at the Delhi CM and stated that "Arvind Kejriwal is a looter and corrupt but right now he is on the verge of mental bankruptcy." 

The PIL was filed by a petitioner named Surjit Singh Yadav seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from the CM's post following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi Liquor Policy case.

The petitioner, a Delhi resident, claimed to be a farmer and social worker. Yadav contented that the Delhi CM's continuation on his post will obstruct the due process of law and obstruct the course of justice. Yadav also stated that it would lead to the breakdown of the consitutional machinery in the national capital.

After hearing the PIL, the Delhi High Court observed that there is no legal bar on Kejriwal to continue his position as Delhi CM, but the court cannot interfere in this matter. The HC also stated that if there was a constitutional failure in his matter, then the President or Lieutenant Governor would act on it. It also added that the court cannot ask for the imposition of the President's rule.

ACJ Manmohan stated that the court must refrain from involving itself into political matters and leave it to the Executives to decide. The HC stated further that it has not commented on the petition's merits.
