Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail is spending most of his time reading books, meditating, and doing yoga in his cell, news agency PTI reported citing sources. The Delhi CM was sent to Tihar Jail after a court remanded him in judicial custody in connection with the excise policy case.
Following his arrest, Kejriwal has become the first sitting chief minister to be imprisoned. He is currently lodged at Asia's largest jail and has been placed in a 14x8 feet room in the general ward number 3 of Tihar's jail number 2.
Most of the day, Kejriwal reads books and does yoga and meditation twice every day, according to PTI's jail sources.
"He does yoga and meditates for about one and a half hours each every morning and evening," the report quoted an official source as saying.
The books that have been provided to him include the Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata, and ‘How Prime Ministers Decide’.
Kejriwal is "often seen reading these books and writing something while sitting on the chair in his cell," the source added.
The Delhi CM can also read the books available in the library for the inmates. However, as of now, he hasn't asked for any other books, a jail official told PTI.

Apart from the books, the chief minister also has access to TV with 20 channels in his cell. However, as per the report, he is not very fond of watching it.
Kejriwal has also been provided a table, chair, and an electric kettle, as directed by the court. A broom, bucket, and a piece of cloth, which is provided to all inmates for cleaning their cell has also been given to the Delhi CM.
His cell has two CCTV cameras through which the Tihar officials can keep a watch on him, the report stated.
There is a small space outside his cell, where he can stretch and walk, officials told PTI.
A quick reaction team, consisting of the Central Reserve Police Force and Tamil Nadu Special Police Personnel has been deployed round the clock outside his ward. Due to security reasons, Kejriwal is not allowed to meet other inmates.
"Whenever he goes to meet his lawyer, which is daily, he is escorted by the QRT personnel," PTI quoted sources.
The report also stated that tea and home-cooked food are being provided to him daily, on time. Besides this, Kejriwal hasn't demanded anything else as of now, the report noted.
