Delhi Excise Scam: AAP MP Sanjay Singh Arrested In Money Laundering Case
The ED has arrested Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has been arrested in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam. Sanjay Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday evening after a raid at his house and a round of questioning. Singh's arrest marked the arrest of the third major leader from the AAP — the others being former Industries Minister Satyendar Jain and Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
Sanjay Singh's name was earlier mentioned in the ED charge sheet.
According to the CBI charge sheet, Dinesh Arora, who turned approver, or a government witness, on October 1, 2022, purportedly told the investigating agency that Sanjay Singh was involved in money laundering. "I met Manish Sisodia through Sanjay Singh at a party in my restaurant Unplugged Courtyard. On the advice of Sanjay Singh, I spoke to many restaurant owners through checks and collected Rs 82 lakh for the party fund to be used in the Delhi Assembly elections. This money was given to Manish Sisodia," he was quoted as telling the ED in its charge sheet.

Dinesh Arora also told the ED that Amit Arora, who is the retail licence holder of Sarthak Flex, sought help in transferring his liquor shop located in Pitampura to the Okhla area. This matter was pending with the Excise Department. According to Dinesh Arora, he put this matter before Manish Sisodia and then, after the intervention of Sanjay Singh, the matter was resolved with the Excise Department.
Dinesh Arora said in his statement that he spoke to Manish Sisodia 5-6 times and met Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh at the Chief Minister's house.
Just before the arrest, Delhi Health and Urban Minister Saurabh Shukla said that the policy was passed with the signature of the Lieutenant-Governor after inculcating his recommendations. "If there was anything objectionable in the policy, surely the L-G would have noticed," he said.
Reacting to the arrest, Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva said, "Today, one thing is clear — the truth cannot be hidden. After Sanjay Singh, it's Arvind Kejriwal."
