A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail after the end of his interim bail in a money laundering case, AAP leaders alleged on Monday that he was not provided a cooler in his cell and his weight was measured three times in what they termed a "conspiracy." The Tihar jail authorities rejected these claims, stating that Kejriwal's weight was recorded only once with a single machine and that he was not given a cooler as such amenities are provided only by court order.

"The weight of Kejriwal is 63.5 kilograms, which was measured only once when he surrendered on Sunday. There was no problem with the weighing machine. His other vitals, including blood pressure and sugar, are normal," a senior Tihar jail officer said, as per news agency PTI.

AAP Claims ‘Very Big Conspiracy’ Against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

During a press conference, senior AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi asserted that Kejriwal's weight was measured with three different machines during his medical check-up in Tihar on Sunday. She also claimed that, despite the high temperatures in Delhi, Kejriwal was held in a cell without a cooler.

"Coolers are provided to even notorious criminals lodged in Tihar. While the popular Chief Minister Kejriwal has not been given the cooler. I want to ask the BJP and the LG how low will they stoop," she said.

Atishi said that Kejriwal suffered from diabetes for 30 years and his weight has been falling for the last few months, and alleged cruelty against him.

"After he surrendered as a law-abiding citizen, he has been kept in a heated cell without a cooler. I want to say to the BJP and the prime minister that not even the people of Delhi but the god also will not forgive them for causing atrocities to Kejriwal," she said.

Atishi further claimed that three machines that measured his weight during his Sunday medical examination produced disparate results.

After a second machine was used by the Tihar officials, it was discovered that he weighed 64 kg instead of the original 61 kg, Atishi remarked. She claimed that because the Tihar officials were not happy with it, they used a third machine, which revealed his weight to be 66.5 kg.

"His weight was 70 kg when he was arrested by the ED on March 21 and it went down to 63 kg when he was weighed at home before surrendering on Monday. This shows a drop of 7 kg which is a serious matter yet the ED opposed his bail for medical tests," she said, as quoted by PTI.

Atishi noted that Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj would investigate the issue, suggesting a "very big conspiracy" behind it.

According to PTI, a Tihar jail officer explained that Kejriwal's weight was 64 kg when he was released on May 10, measured with the same machine used on Sunday. The officer added that Kejriwal's BP was measured at 120/76 his sugar level remained at 120 on Monday and that he receives insulin twice daily under medical supervision. The chief minister also spoke to his wife on Monday evening.

Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP for the AAP, also reaffirmed the accusation that Kejriwal was weighed in jail using three machines in a post on X.

"In the jail, Arvind Kejriwal's weight was measured thrice with different machines, one showed 61 kg, the second 64 kg, the third 66.5 kg. Whereas when he was weighed at home before leaving, it was 63 kg. What kind of joke is this? LG sahab, please get the machine fixed," he said in his post.

Singh added that even though it was 44 degrees Celsius, Kejriwal was kept in a tiny cell without a cooler.
