A 40 years old woman identified as Sheela from Narela died after a DTC cluster bus hit her in front of FCI godown main Bawana road on Saturday, reported ANI. The woman was riding as a pillion passenger on a scooty. The police have sent the deceased body to a nearby hospital and have taken possession of the bus and the scooty.


The authorities have also registered a case after he husband lodged a complaint. However, the driver of the bus is absconding and the Delhi police are on the lookout for him, as tweeted by the news agency ANI.






Meanwhile, last week on March 10, in yet another Kanjhawala-like incident, an elderly woman died after being dragged by a car for about 50 metres in Haryana’s Ambala on Friday. The incident occurred near Baldev Nagar Chowk in the city on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway.


Informing about the same, the police said that on Friday, a car hit an elderly woman on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway and dragged her for about 50 meters, due to which the elderly woman died.  


The deceased woman has been identified as 63-year-old Laxmi Devi. She died on the spot.  Police said that it was the deceased woman’s husband, Jai Kumar, who registered the complaint.


The man said that his wife was returning home after seeing off her daughter when a speeding car hit her. According to the police, the woman fell on the car and her clothes got stuck in the vehicle. In his complaint, Jai Kumar alleged that instead of stopping the car, the driver dragged Lakshmi for about 50 meters.

Police said the accused fled the spot leaving his car behind after people started gathering around the accident area. They said that a case has been registered against the unknown driver in connection with the incident and the investigation is underway. The car of the accused has been seized and the dead body of the woman has been sent for postmortem.


In a similar case in Haryana’s Faridabad in February, a speeding car hit a 68-year-old man and then dragged him for about 200 metres after the man got stuck in the bumper of the car. When the old man came out of the bumper, the driver ran the car over him and ran away. 


Earlier in January, a woman was found dead in Delhi’s Kanjhawala after being dragged for around 12 km by a car on new year’s eve. The incident shook the nation and massive protests were held across the country demanding strict punishment to the accused.
