Ever since India sealed their spot in the World Test Championship finals, there has been a prediction making rounds as to who will win the trophy- India or Australia. Former England captain Paul Collingwood who is taking part in the Legends League Cricket league in Doha came with a prediction and said that India has a huge chance to clinch the trophy.

"Yes, team India has a good chance this time as they are a very strong side which was seen in the recent BGT series. The way they are playing is magnificent, they could dominate Australia at the WTC finals. Even though Australia are a very good side too but England's conditions are different... I hope we will witness a good encounter from both sides," Collingwood told ANI.

The Indian team made its way into the final of WTC after Sri Lanka lost on day 5 of the Christchurch Test against New Zealand by two wickets. Sri Lanka needed to clean sweep New Zealand in order to seal the final spot, but then Kane Williamson's heroics with the bat alongside Daryl Mitchell helped India cement their spot in the finals of WTC. Earlier, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India lost the inaugural World Test Championship final to New Zealand in 2021.

Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid was elated after India stepped into the finals of WTC. He said, "We were eagerly watching, hoping Sri Lanka doesn't win. The World Test Championship is a two-year-long event, all the teams play six Test series each, so it's natural you'll be dependent on others. Although you have to put in your best in competitions such as this you are also dependent on others.”

“The good thing is that New Zealand, who mostly knock us out of ICC tournaments, gave us little support. We are thankful to them,” he said.

Team India will lock horns against Australia in the WTC finals at the Oval from June 7.
