A shocking incident of flogging has been reported from Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur where a 32-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death. The manager was reportedly beaten on the orders of his boss over the accusation of theft. Several employees are said to have been assaulted. As for the deceased identified as Shivam Johri, his body was dumped outside at a government hospital.
According to a report by NDTV, the matter pertains to a transport businessman who had his manager beaten to death. The businessman identified as Bankim Suri is among seven people named in the manager's murder case.
A video of the assault also surfaced online. The video, shared by a journalist on Twitter, showed Shivam tied while a man is seen repeatedly hitting him with a rod.
The report mentioned the police as saying that Shivam's body was abandoned at the medical college and hospital Tuesday night. His family members were told that he had died of electrocution, they said. The probe began after a police officer examined the body in the hospital and noticed injuries inconsistent with the claim of electrocution.
The visuals that surfaced on social media also showed black patches on the victim's body caused by flogging.
Shivam was working with the transport businessman for the past seven years, NDTV reported.
As per the report, the probe so far found that a package of prominent business Kanhiya Hosiery went missing recently and several employees of the transporters were allegedly similarly assaulted on the suspicion of theft. One of the persons said he and two more workers were beaten with him.
The owner of Kanhiya Hosiery identified as Neeraj Gupta is also among the seven accused in the murder case.
Police seized a car from the premises of Kanhiya Hosiery which is suspected to be linked to the crime. The post-mortem report will throw more light on the crime, NDTV reported the police as informing.
