A rickshaw driver was nabbed after being suspected of murdering a man and dismembering his body while having conjecture of him having an extramarital relationship with his wife, according to authorities. They said that on Saturday, shattered body parts of the victim, Akshay (24), a resident of the Rajasthani village of Kotputli, were found on the embankment road of the Hindon canal, news agency PTI reported.

Police claim that the suspect, Mihlal (34), killed Akshay because he thought he was having an extramarital affair with his wife, Poonam.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (trans-Hindon) Deeksha Sharma, after killing Akshay, the suspect cut his corpse into 10 parts, placed them in three bags, and afterwards discarded the bags among some bushes close to the Hindon canal.

Mihlal admitted to the police during questioning that he had brought a sharp knife some time prior and had hidden it in his home in order to carry out his plot to kill Akshay.

The body parts have been submitted for post-mortem, the DCP stated, adding that the culprit was detained and jailed.

“Prajapati asked his wife to call Kumar to their house on Thursday and he came there in the evening. She then went to a hospital in Delhi with their minor daughter who had suffered a burn injury. In the meantime, Prajapati made Kumar consume a few drinks and killed him late night using an axe-like weapon (called gandasa in Hindi) and chopped his body into pieces,” Diksha Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (trans-Hindon) was quoted by Hindustan Times in its report.

Despite the fact that Prajapati, according to the police, had no criminal history, he dismembered the body so it would fit into the gunny sacks. He loaded the three bags onto his rickshaw about one in the morning on Friday and dropped them near the UP Gate overpass in the Khoda Pushta neighbourhood.

Some of the wooded areas in the Pushta region have developed over time into places where people dump their trash. Locals alerted the police on Saturday night after observing stray dogs congregating close to the bags.
