A woman was allegedly gang-raped by five individuals near a shopping mall in Noida. Following the incident, the Noida Police arrested three suspects. Two more suspects are yet to be caught. The 26-year-old woman filed an FIR at the Sector 39 police station on December 30, shedding light on the incident. According to a PTI report, the delay in her complaint was due to repeated harassment by the accused.


"The FIR was registered at the Sector 39 police station on December 30, prompting an investigation resulting in the arrest of three of the accused," stated a police spokesperson quoted by PTI.


The three apprehended suspects were identified as Rajkumar, Aazad, and Vikas. The spokesperson mentioned ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects, identified as Ravi and Mehmi. "Those in custody have been identified as Rajkumar, Aazad, and Vikas. The remaining suspects, identified as Ravi and Mehmi, are still at large, and we are actively pursuing their arrest," added the spokesperson.

According to the police statement, the victim refrained from reporting the incident initially due to fear of the accused, whom she described as 'dabang' (strong) individuals. However, continued harassment and blackmail from the perpetrators compelled her to approach the police on December 30. "The victim refrained from reporting the incident initially due to fear, but she was being blackmailed by the accused. She reported the incident on December 30, 2023, at Noida Police Station No. 39," stated the Noida police.


The police elaborated that the complainant underwent a medical examination last week, and her statement was recorded following legal procedures. The arrested individuals were presented in a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody.


"Following the investigation, the victim underwent a medical examination within 24 hours. Her statement was recorded under sections 161 and 164 of CrPC before the Hon'ble Court," added the Noida police."
