The BJP has accused MP Dayanidhi Maran of failing to apologize for his remark but he excelled in degrading individuals based on their profession or language. On Tuesday, in response to questions about a purported video clip showing an alleged derogatory remark made in March 2023 regarding workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Maran mentioned a saying, "jobless barbers catch hold of cats to shave its fur." The DMK leader also asserted that the BJP IT wing's efforts to generate controversy for political advantage would not succeed.


Following this, BJP leaders accused Dayanidhi Maran of using “jobless barbers” slur and demeaning the people employed in the profession.


Taking to X, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai said, "Degrading someone by profession or language seems to be the only thing DMK MP Thiru Dayanidhi Maran excels in. Instead of apologising, Thiru Dayanidhi Maran calls those spreading & reacting to his rants on our North Indian Brothers and Sisters the work of a “Jobless Barber”." 


"With this constant degrading, it is only evident that even the continuous taste of electoral defeat doesn't seem to shake the resolve of the leaders in the I.N.D.I. Alliance," he said.

BJP's National Information & Technology Dept incharge Amit Malviya said, "Prime Minister Modi is working to empower the Vishwakarma community, who are primarily OBCs, but here is DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran, who is using “jobless barbers” slur and demeaning them. After vowing to annihilate Sanatan Dharma, I.N.D.I Alliance leaders now insulting the OBCs." 


"Silence of the likes of Mamata Banerjee, who has denied OBCs their rights is understandable, but where are Nitish Kumar and Rahul Gandhi, the self appointed champions of OBC politics? Shame on them," he said.
