A businessman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district was allegedly robbed and his wife was gangraped by the group of people accused of the theft. The robbery took place at the businessman’s house when he was out with his mother and two children to see a doctor, according to an IANS report. 


According to reports, a group of five people entered the house and tied up the woman and gangraped her. 


The businessman also alleged that the robbers consumed alcohol and burnt his wife with cigarette butts. They also looted gold jewellery, 2 kg silver items, Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, a scooter and an LED TV installed in the house, he added.

According to the IANS report, the robbers cut the lock of the almirahs and rooms where the valuables were kept and intoxicated the woman.


The report also stated that the police first tried to suppress the incident by not registering a case in connection with the matter, but subsequently did so after the case surfaced in the media. 


The businessman claimed that this was the second incident of robbery against him after the first theft case took place on October 19. That time, the robbers had held him hostage  and stolen Rs 80,000 in cash.

He had made a complaint to the police who assured him that action will be taken against the accused, he said


Meanwhile, station in-charge Vikas Kumar has been sent to the lines for being negligent, Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadaun told IANS. The businessman was only given assurances instead of registering a complaint in the October 19 case, Jadaun said. 


A case has now been registered against the accused by the police under relevant sections related to robbery and gagrape.
