New Delhi: In yet another incident similar to the Shraddha Walkar murder case, a 32-year-old woman was murdered and her body was chopped into pieces allegedly by her 56-year-old live-in partner at their rented accommodation at Mira Road in Mumbai. Police said she was killed 2-3 days back.

According to police, the accused, identified as Manoj Sahni, killed the victim, Saraswati Vaidya, three to four days ago, then chopped her body into pieces and boiled them in a pressure cooker before disposing of them. Police said that over 12-13 pieces of the woman's body were recovered from the site.

The accused was immediately taken into custody. A report in Hindustan Times quoted Jayant Bajbale, deputy commissioner of police (zone 1), as saying, “We have arrested Sahani and are investigating to find out the motive behind the murder and how he executed it."

The victim, Saraswati Vaidya, was in a live-in relationship with a man, identified as Manoj Sahani, and the couple had been residing in the flat for the last three years, a senior official at the Naya Nagar police station said.

Police were alerted by local residents who complained of a foul smell emanating from the flat, he said.

"Police have found a body of a woman who had been cut into pieces, from a society in Mira Road area. Here a couple was living in a live-in relationship. Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was hacked to death. Further Investigation underway," Jayant Bajbale told ANI.
