The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) issued an appeal on Thursday (September 28), urging political leaders to exhibit sensitivity and refrain from crowding the hospital where a minor girl from Ujjain, who was a victim of rape, is currently undergoing medical treatment, according to news agency PTI. The 12-year-old survivor was discovered in a critical condition, bleeding and partially clothed, as she sought help in the Barnagar Road area under the jurisdiction of the Mahakal Police Station in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain.
NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo urged political leaders to exercise restraint and refrain from crowding the hospital where the minor girl is receiving treatment. According to Kanoongo, a member of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sent one such Congress party leader back, requesting that she not crowd there.
He further said NCPCR member Dr Divya Gupta met the Dean and other doctors in the hospital and took an update on the condition of the girl, according to the PTI report.
Dr Divya Gupta, a member responsible for Child Health, Care, and Welfare at the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, expressed deep concern, saying, "The lack of assistance to the Ujjain rape victim highlights a troubling aspect of our society. The political controversy surrounding this incident is equally distressing," news agency PTI posted the video of the same.
Addressing the distressing Ujjain minor girl rape case, Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, revealed on September 27 that they had initiated contact with the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to ensure the well-being of the victim. "We have been made aware of this incident... We are currently in the process of requesting an update on the girl's condition and her medical report from the District Magistrate. Additionally, we have reached out to the Superintendent of Police to obtain a copy of the FIR, the girl's statement, and comprehensive incident details," Kanoongo was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
