New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nisha Napit Sharma was found dead in her official residence, allegedly killed by her husband, Manish Sharma. As per news agency ANI, Nilima Napit, elder sister of the deceased SDM who was posted in Dindori district's Shahpura, alleged that the accused used to torture the late officer.

The incident occurred at her official residence in the district on Sunday and the accused husband also tried to hide the evidence by cleaning the clothes, pillow, bedsheets, and others in the washing machine, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG, Balaghat Range) Mukesh Kumar Srivastawa told ANI.

"SDM Nisha Napit Sharma was married to Manish Sharma (45), a resident of Gwalior in 2020 at a Gaytri Mandir in Mandla. Their married life was quite stressful and Manish Sharma also used to trouble her. Along with this, he also wanted to be a nominee in her service book, insurance and bank account but the SDM ma'am used to deny it", the officer further added.

While talking to reporters, the sister, Nilima, revealed that the accused namely Manish Sharma wanted money from Nisha since the beginning of their marriage. "We received a phone call from the police station on Sunday, informing us that she is no more...We were told to reach here. Manish Sharma (her husband) is a resident of Gwalior and is unemployed... From the beginning, Manish wanted money. He had started asking her for money on the second or third day of getting married. She had given him at least Rs 5 lakh after getting a loan," she said, as quoted by ANI.

Nilima further said that "Mishra, who was unemployed, used to subject her sister to mental and physical torture. She used to tell me about it...I suspect that Manish Sharma has murdered her...I demand proper investigation and punishment for the guilty," she said.

According to Nilima, Nisha and Manish got married without telling anybody in their family.

"Manish Sharma (her husband) is a resident of Gwalior and is unemployed. They met through a matrimonial website and got married. But they did not invite us and got married without telling us", ANI quoted Nilima as saying.

The police have registered a case against the accused under IPC sections 302, 304B, and 201 and took the accused into custody. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
