Delhi Police has arrested the woman who allegedly killed the son of her live-in partner. Police said they checked over 300 CCTV footage to nab the woman.

Police have arrested the woman who allegedly killed the son of her live-in partner from Delhi's Bakkarwala area. The police traced the woman, identified as Pooja, after checking footage from over 300 CCTV cameras. Special CP, Delhi Police Crime Branch, Ravinder Yadav said that Pooja killed the child thinking that his father will not be with her unless he leaves the child. Notably, the 24-year-old woman killed 11-year-old Divyansh and stuffed his body in a bed box, reported PTI citing police.

A resident of Ranhola, Pooja Kumari Divyansh holding the minor responsible for his father not divorcing his wife, police said, as quoted by PTI. The police received the information about the dead boy on Thursday at around 8.30 pm when he was brought to BLK Hospital. Police said that there were strangulation marks on Divyansh’s neck.

They added that Pooja strangled the child to death when he was sleeping and then hid his body inside the bed box. She was in a live-in relationship with the boy's father Jitender.

"A few days back, the body of an 11-year-old child was found in a bed box in Inderpuri. We have arrested Pooja, the woman friend of his father, Jitender. CCTV visuals showed a woman in a blue-coloured attire. She was identified as Pooja...She was finally traced to Bakkarwala and arrested. She says that she felt that Jitender had left her as he loved the child too much. She felt that unless he left the child, he will not be with her. She felt it was important to remove the child. So, she killed him..," Yadav told ANI.

According to PTI, the footage showed Pooja in areas on the Najafgarh Nangloi Road -- Ranhola, Nihal Vihar and Rishal Garden.

A senior police officer said that during the investigation, footage from a CCTV camera was examined that showed that the last person who visited the 11-year-old boy's house was Pooja.

Reportedly, Pooja Kumari and Jitender had married at a temple of the Arya Samaj on October 17, 2019. Police said that since Jitender had not given a divorce to his wife, a court marriage was not possible. Meanwhile, Jitender assured Pooja that they would get married in court after he gets a divorce from his wife, according to police. However, the couple started living together in a rented house.

But things started getting worse. They often quarrelled over Jitender's divorce and after sometime, he moved out of the rented house and started staying with his wife, police said, as per PTI.

Pooja was furious over Jitender leaving the house and assumed it was because of his son. According to police, the report added, she met her friend and asked him to take her to Jitender's house.

The door was open when she reached there. Then, she killed Divyansh, who was sleeping and put his bot inside the bed box.
