Delhi: Man Beaten Up, Shot At After Quarrel In Lajpat Nagar, Police Suspect Rival Gang Attack
In Delhi, a gang member shot at a rival criminal in Lajpat Nagar. This follows two more incidents of gun violence in the capital after a woman was shot in her home, and a 16-year-old boy was killed outside a store
A man was beaten and shot in his left knee following a dispute in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area, police reported on Saturday. Authorities suspect that the attack was carried out by members of a rival group, news agency PTI reported. The incident occurred at H Block, Lajpat Nagar Part 1. Police received a call at 6:47 pm reporting a quarrel and gunfire in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Abhishek Sagar, also known as Katya, with a gunshot wound in his left knee. He was promptly admitted to the hospital and is currently recuperating, PTI's report stated.

Investigations revealed the involvement of one Abhishek Taneja, who has several criminal cases against him. One Rohit Chaudhary is also a suspect in the incident, the police informed.
Last November, Abhishek Sagar had fired at Rohit Chaudhary due to their ongoing rivalry, leading to the arrest of nine individuals. At the time, Abhishek was a juvenile and was apprehended separately. Police informed that Abhishek had been involved in three cases as a juvenile, the report mentioned.
A case of attempted murder has been registered, and further investigations are underway.

2 Incidents of Gun Violence In Northeast Delhi
In northeast Delhi, two separate incidents of gun violence have surfaced.
On Saturday, a 50-year-old woman named Shakila was shot while she slept in her home in Janata Mazdoor Colony. The attack occurred around 2 am when two assailants entered her residence and opened fire, leaving her with a bullet wound to her left shoulder. Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey stated, “Initial investigations revealed that two assailants entered Shakila's house and opened fire while she was sleeping.” Shakila’s son, Mohammad Ishtikar, lodged a complaint, leading to the registration of a case under section 109(1)/3(5) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at Welcome police station.
The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, with reports indicating that Mohammad Ishtikar has been unemployed for the past five months after leaving his job at a courier company.
In another incident, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot outside a garment shop in the Jafrabad area on Thursday evening. The boy, along with his elder brother and a friend, was confronted by several individuals as they exited the shop around 9:35 pm. DCP Joy Tirkey recounted, “Around 9 pm, some individuals arrived on two scooters and accosted the group outside the shop. When the complainant resisted, one of the attackers opened fire, resulting in the 16-year-old boy being shot in the back.”
The victim was rushed to GTB Hospital but was declared dead during treatment. An FIR has been lodged based on a complaint from the victim's elder brother. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers, who are believed to be residents of either the Welcome area or Kabir Nagar area and known to the victims.
