The Begusarai police in Bihar have cracked the case of a family's murder that shocked the region, revealing that the son of the deceased victim's first wife was responsible for the crime. The incident took place on the night of Friday, August 9, when a family was attacked with a sharp weapon while they were asleep in their home in Chiranjeevipur, Ward No. 12, Rasidpur, under Bachhwara police station.
The victims, identified as Sanjeevan Singh alias Sanjeevan Mahto (around 45 years old), his wife Sangeeta Devi (around 40 years old), and their daughter Sapna Kumari (between 10 to 12 years old), were killed on the spot.
The death toll in the case has risen to four as another child, Ankush Kumar (around 6 to 7 years old), was severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning, August 13, during treatment in Patna. Notably, one child managed to escape the scene, saving his life.

Several organisations came forward to support Ankush's treatment after he was referred from Begusarai to Patna. Dr. Nishant Ranjan, the director of a prominent hospital in the city, took responsibility for Ankush's treatment, stating, "Ankush's family is extremely poor. It was impossible for them to afford the treatment, so as a doctor and a member of society, I took on the responsibility." However, despite his best efforts, Ankush could not be saved. "I tried my utmost to save his life, and I deeply regret that we were unsuccessful," Dr. Ranjan expressed.
Confirming the developments, Begusarai SP Manish Kumar stated, "On 9th August, a triple murder took place in Chiranjeevipur, Rasidpur. The child who was injured in the incident passed away on Tuesday morning during treatment in Patna. Action is being taken in this regard."
