Bhagalpur murders: Bihar's Bhagalpur woke up to a shock on Tuesday when the bodies of five people, including a woman constable, of a family were discovered at her official quarters at the Bhagalpur Police Lines. The throats of four bodies were slit, while the woman constable's husband, Pankaj, purportedly killed himself after murdering the entire family. The woman constable Neetu Kumari lived with her mother-in-law and two children.
The Bhagalpur murders come just days after the shocking Begusarai triple-murder case, in which a 10-year-old girl was found dead along with her parents. The two cases bear certain similarities. In that case, too, the throats of the victims were slit allegedly by a member of the family. A four-year-old who had barely managed to survive the attack breathed his last on Tuesday at the hospital.
Bhagalpur Murders: Constable's Husband Left Suicide Note
The woman constable Neetu was posted at the Bhagalpur SSP office. After getting information about the incident, police and senior officials reached the spot. During this, the police found a suicide note at the spot. In the note, Neetu's husband Pankaj confessed to killing the four members of his family.
Citing the suicide note, police sources said Pankaj suspected his wife was carrying on an illicit relationship, because of which he killed his own mother, children, and constable Neetu Kumari. The Bihar Police is now investigating the case.
DIG Vivekanand said the deceased were residents of Buxar. "The other members of the family have been informed of the deaths. Neetu and Pankaj had a love marriage. Neetu Kumari was a Bihar Police constable of the 2015 batch. There had been a dispute between the two [husband-wife] for the past several days. They even fought out in public. There was a fight yesterday [Monday] evening as well. Neetu had not complained against anyone. Whatever the matter was, it was between the husband and wife only. There were frequent fights."
On the question of what was the reason for the dispute between the husband and wife, DIG Vivekanand said that this is a matter of investigation. "But in the suicide note, the husband accused the woman of having an affair with someone. We are investigating all angles. Neetu and Pankaj had two sons. One was five and the other was three."
