4 Of Family Stabbed To Death In Delhi's Palam, Accused Held

Motive for the crime (as emerged from the initial investigation) appears to be a quarrel with family as the accused did not have a stable job, the police said.

New Delhi: Four members of a family were stabbed to death in Palam area in the national capital, said the Delhi Police on Wednesday, reported news agency ANI. The accused in the matter has been apprehended, the police added. The incident took place last night where two sisters, their father and grandmother were murdered, the report added.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, the police said, adding that the “motive for the crime (as emerged from the initial investigation) appears to be a quarrel with family as the accused did not have a stable job,” reported the news agency.

One of the relatives of the family said that he heard his cousin screaming for help but when he ran towards them, another cousin asked him to go away.

"I returned home around 9.15 to 9.30pm. 10 minutes later, I heard my cousin Urvashi scream for help. I went upstairs and knocked on the door. We tried to break it open. My cousin Keshav called us out from inside and told us to go away, saying ‘it is a family matter’, said the relative, Kuldeep, quoted by the news agency.

On Tuesday at around 10:30 pm, police received information about a quarrel on the upper floor of a house, a senior police officer said, quoted by news agency PTI.

After reaching the spot, police found four members of a family dead in their house, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C said.

The caller and his relatives caught hold of the accused and handed him over to the police, he said.

The primary investigation revealed that Keshav did not have a stable job. He used to work in a company in Gurgaon and left the job a month ago, police said.

Prima facie it seems that the accused killed his family following an argument, they said.
