The charred body of a man was found in his car in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The body was taken out of the car after police and fire department officials managed to douse the fire. The burning car was discovered inside a forested area, just 100 metres away from the main road in the Nainsukh area.
According to the police, the man, identified as Sanjay Yadav from Ghaziabad's Nehru Nagar, was a businessman. He had gone to Greater Noida for a jewellery deal. Suspecting foul play, the police have detained two persons who were in Greater Noida along with Sanjay for the property deal.
According to media reports the vehicle was a new Fortuner. A video of the car on fire has now gone viral. The police have launched an investigation into the case and are also probing the possibility of the car catching fire spontaneously. "We have spoken to the family members and have taken them into custody based on the family's statement. The trio allegedly had an altercation over a jewellery sale. We are investigating the matter," a senior police officer said.
Earlier this month, a moving car erupted into flames in Noida's Sector 49, causing panic in the area. The driver of the car reportedly jumped out of the car to save himself. The vehicle, however, was gutted in the blaze.
