Vehicular movement has been restored at the Punjab-Haryana Khanauri border after police evicted the protesting farmers from the protesting sites and also removed the temporary structures erected by them.
Traffic resumed at the Khanauri border a day after vehicular movement was restored on the Shambhu-Ambala Highway. On Thursday, security personnel from Haryana removed the concerete barricades on their side of Shambhu-Ambala Highway, opening the road for traffic, while barricading on the road at the Khanauri border point was still being removed.
Punjab Police on Wednesday had also detained protesting farmers and demolished their temporary structures.
The cement wall built on Haryana’s side at the Punjab-Haryana Khanuri border to block farmers has also been removed, clearing the route for movement.
On clearance of the Khanauri border, a villager said: "The border closure was causing a lot of difficulties, preventing people from leaving their homes. Now, people will be able to carry out their work properly."

Farmers To Hold 'Dharnas' Over Punjab Police Crackdown
The road clearance exercise at the Shambhu and Khanauri protest venues continued out even as agitated farmers took to the streets at several places in Punjab including Moga, Tarn Taran, Muktsar and Faridkot against the Wednesday crackdown on farmers, PTI reported.
In response to the Punjab Police crackdown, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have announced to hold dharnas outside the offices of deputy commissioners in protest.
They slammed the AAP government in Punjab for evicting the farmers and detaining farmer leaders while they were returning after a meeting with a Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led central delegation in Chandigarh.
Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai also commented on the eviction of farmers from the Shambhu and Khanauri borders saying, "Samajwadi Party is very clear that farmers are the food giver of the country. Respecting farmers is our duty. No wrong should be done to the farmers."
Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite fast since November 26 last year, was admitted to the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences in Jalandhar. Later, he was taken to PWD Rest House in Jalandhar.
