Thane News: 23-Yr-Old Woman Went To Pakistan After 'Forging Aadhaar, PAN To Get Passport, Visa'; Probe On

Thane News: The Thane Police have registered a case against a 23-year-old woman who allegedly travelled to Pakistan using a fake passport and visa obtained with the help of fraudulent documents. The accused, identified as Nagma Noor Maqsood Ali, also known as Sanam Khan, allegedly created fake identification documents to facilitate her travel to the neighbouring country.

According to an officer from the Vartak Nagar police station, Nagma Noor Maqsood Ali secured a fake Aadhaar card, PAN card, and also a birth certificate for her daughter. These forged documents were then used to apply for a passport and subsequently obtain a visa for Pakistan. The authorities have also filed a case against an unidentified individual who is believed to have assisted Nagma in preparing these fake documents.

The crime reportedly took place between May 2023 and 2024. The Thane Police have invoked the Indian Passport Act and other relevant sections to charge both accused. An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the extent of the forgery and the involvement of any additional conspirators.

Forged Documents Detected By Intel Agencies 

Police sources said the fake documents were prepared at a shop in Lokmanya Nagar. Using these documents, Nagma managed to successfully apply for and receive a passport and visa, which allowed her to travel to Pakistan. The fake documents could not be detected even during the mandatory police verification before the issuance of her passport. The forged documents were later discovered by intelligence agencies.

This incident has raised concerns over the integrity of the document verification processes and the potential security risks posed by such fraudulent activities. The authorities are now closely examining the procedures that allowed such discrepancies to go unnoticed.

In a related incident, a 33-year-old man named Tushar Pawar was arrested at the Mumbai airport for tampering with his passport. Pawar had altered 12 pages of his passport to conceal records of his previous trips to Thailand. The Sahar police caught Pawar during the immigration check, highlighting a growing trend of forgery of document among travellers.
