RG Kar Medical College Case: A doctor, who was on emergency duty at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, has levelled serious allegations against the police. The doctor's claim strengthens the accusations of evidence tampering.

A junior doctor was raped and murdered on the RG Kar Hospital premises in Kolkata on August 9. Following the Kolkata doctor's death, several allegations of evidence tampering, misreporting the crime, attempts to shield the accused, and corruption at the hospital arose. So far, two persons have been arrested.

According to the doctor, the standard operating procedure was not followed at the emergency medical, which delayed the recording of the time of death and the post-mortem examination procedure. The BJP earlier alleged that the time of death recorded by the police was different from that in the cremation register.

Now, the doctor, too, has accused the police of "lying". "The SOP was not followed at the emergency medical ward, which delayed the time of death and the post-mortem process. Moreover, the people shown in the viral video were not related to the crime scene but were still allowed to enter there," the doctor said, raising the possibility of tampering with evidence.

The doctor said that the autopsy of the victim was conducted at RG Kar Medical College. However, it should have been done at some other medical college to ensure transparency.

RG Kar Doctor Death Case Update

The protests over the rape and murder of the junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have held on. The Bengali film industry has put several releases on hold. Protesting doctors in Kolkata will form a human chain from Patuli Jhil Park to Mani Square Mall on Tuesday, September 3, to demand 'justice' for the victim.

On Monday, former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a corruption case. Ghosh was initially being questioned in the doctor's death case. However, the CBI later took over the case of alleged corruption by Sandip Ghosh at the hospital.
