Several farmers were injured in a major road accident in Barnala, Punjab, on Saturday morning. A bus carrying farmers to a Mahapanchayat collided with a truck along the Khanauri border due to dense fog. This bus was going to the Khanauri border from the village of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who was on a hunger strike.

The accident occurred near the jail on the Barnala-Moga National Highway near Gurusar and Sainiwala villages. Several farmers travelling by the bus were injured in the accident and were admitted to a government hospital in Barnala.

Some local media reports said that the bus was on the wrong side of the road. The bus conductor and a passenger said that the heavy fog resulted in the accident.

Eight days ago, eight people, including four women, were killed in an accident when a private bus crashed through the railing of a bridge and fell into the Lissara drain in Punjab’s Bathinda. It was pouring at the time of the accident.

The bus was carrying 46 people, including the driver, who was killed in the accident.
