Pune: A 24-year-old woman died after she was forced to undergo an abortion at her home by her husband and in-laws. The incident took place earlier this week in Pune's Indapur in Maharashtra.
According to sources, the woman was four months pregnant and was already a mother of two children. She got married in 2017. Her family had discovered that she was pregnant with a girl child and they did not want a daughter.
Therefore, they began forcing the woman to have an abortion at home. The family carried out a secret abortion at the home, following which the woman's health began deteriorating. Her condition worsened on Sunday after excessive bleeding. When the situation went out of control, she was being taken to a hospital the next day. However, she died on the way.
As the matter was brought to light, the police arrested the woman's husband and father-in-law. A case has also been filed against the mother-in-law. The four-month-old foetus was found buried in the family's farms.
Pune police is also investigating a private doctor, who had been called to perform the abortion at home.
Delhi Woman Kills 6-Day-Old Baby As She Didn't Want Another Girl
In another shocker, a 28-year-old woman was arrested for killing her 6-day-old baby girl in Delhi's Khyala. It was revealed during the probe that the woman took that step as she was unable to face the social stigma of not being able to bear a son.
Shivani, the accused, revealed during the probe that the baby she strangled to death was her fourth daughter. She had also lost two of her previous children.
The police became suspicious after Shivani said that she had no clue about how the baby, who was sleeping right next to her, suddenly went missing. When the police found the baby's body on the roof of an adjacent house inside a bag, they deployed teams to find Shivani, who had gone to the hospital. She then confessed to commiting the crime during the questioning.
