Actor Salman Khan visited the residence of deceased NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai on Sunday, hours after the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for Siddique's murder. Baba Siddique, aged 66, was a prominent figure in political and Bollywood circles, known for hosting grand Iftar parties attended by top Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Siddique was shot dead on Saturday night outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Kher Nagar, Bandra, Mumbai.

The actor’s visit was brief and took place under tight security. Security at Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, has also been increased following the incident.

Baba Siddique Murder: Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility, Mumbai Police Say Social Media Post To Be Verified

Following the shooting, the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the assassination through a social media post. Central agencies have initiated an investigation into the post, which was linked to a Facebook account belonging to Shubuu Lonkar, believed to be Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, an associate of the Bishnoi gang.

The post, which has since gone viral, read: "Salman Khan, we did not want this fight, but you caused harm to our brother... Today, people are singing praises about Baba Siddique's decency, but at one time, he was associated with Dawood under the MCOCA Act. The reason for his (Baba Siddique's) death was his involvement in connecting Anuj Thapan and Dawood with Bollywood, politics, and property dealings. We have no enmity with anyone, but whoever helps Salman Khan and the Dawood gang should be prepared for consequences. If anyone causes harm to any of our brothers, we will definitely respond. We did not strike first."

In connection with the murder, two individuals have been arrested—Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) from Haryana and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap (19) from Uttar Pradesh. The arrest comes ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Addressing the media, Mumbai Police DCP Crime Branch Datta Nalawade confirmed that various angles, including those involving Lawrence Bishnoi and Salman Khan, are being investigated. "There were three people at the spot of incidence. Two have been caught, and one is absconding... 15 teams of the Crime Branch are on the job... The angles of Lawrence Bishnoi, Salman Khan, or any other angle is being investigated," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Nalawade further shared that the Crime Branch recovered two pistols from the arrested accused. "The accused had brought pepper spray, first, the accused were about to spray and then they were about to fire but the third accused Shiv Kumar Gautam started firing directly. Three constables were with Baba Siddiqui and at the time of the incident also three constables were there but they could not do anything. One more person has been injured in this firing," he added.

The police are also looking into the authenticity of the social media post that claimed responsibility for the assassination. "We are investigating the authenticity of the said post on social media claiming the responsibility of the incident," the senior cop said, as per ANI.
