Mumbai Central Jail, also known as Arthur Road Jail, has submitted an application to the court to transfer members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to different prisons. Jail authorities cited concerns over potential gang violence within the facility. The administration fears that an escalating gang war could disrupt security, prompting the request to relocate the gang members to other prisons.
ABP News Sources confirmed that the request included those accused of involvement in shooting incidents at the homes of public figures like Baba Siddique and Salman Khan. In both high-profile cases, authorities are seeking to transfer several of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang members currently held in judicial custody to other facilities.
Over 20 Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Members In Jail
An official from the jail explained, "The Lawrence Bishnoi gang now has over 20 members in custody here, raising the risk of them forming an internal faction. This could lead to serious law and order issues within the jail. Hence, we’ve requested their transfer."
According to sources, at least 15 suspects are being held in this jail in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case and five in the Salman Khan firing case — all of whom are in judicial custody. The Baba Siddique case alone has led to the arrest of 18 individuals, with more arrests anticipated as the investigation continues. The jail is already operating above capacity, increasing concerns of disrupting the facility's operations in case of a gang war.
D-Company, Chhota Rajan, Bishnoi Gang Members Among High-Risk Inmates
Officials said that those arrested in connection with the Siddique and Khan cases are being held in a high-security cell to prevent them from interacting with other inmates. Arthur Road Jail houses several high-profile gang members, including members of Dawood Ibrahim's D-Company crime syndicate and the Chhota Rajan gang. They are all in jail in separate cases. Authorities are having to tread thin ice amid the possibility of rival factions clashing within the facility.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested 18 individuals in the Baba Siddique case, but key suspects, including Shubham Lonkar and Siddique’s shooter Shivkumar Gautam, remain at large.
