While videos of the police catching criminals are common on the internet, a recent incident from Uttar Pradesh took a bizarre turn. A video has surfaced from Mirzapur in UP, where a group of people could be seen taking custody of a police officer outside a police station.
The incident unfolded in the premises of Chilh Police Station in the district where SHO Shivshankar Singh was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption team while accepting bribe.
According to a report in Amar Ujala, a team led by District Anti-Corruption Officer Vinay Singh arrived at Chilh police station in Mirzapur.
As soon as the station in-charge demanded money from a complainant, the anti-corruption officers barged into his office and caught hold of the officer red-handed. The SHO had allegedly taken a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant.
Singh was caught with the bribe and was immediately taken into custody. Meanwhile, a video of the incident has gone viral showing half a dozen sleuths catching the SHO and taking him into their vehicle.
However, SHO Shivshankar Singh is adamant and refuse to enter into the vehicle. He could be heard saying, "Listen to me, listen to me... I won't go. Hold on for a minute."
After much struggle by the Anti-Corruption team, the police officer is made to sit inside the vehicle.
The incident comes days after a Sub-Inspector from Jigna Police Station was caught accepting a bribe.
Sub-Inspector Surendra Kumar of the Jigna police station was suspended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Somendra Verma after a video surfaced showing Kumar demanding a bribe and using derogatory language towards senior police officials.
