Karnataka Businessman Goes Missing, Damaged BMW Found Near Mangaluru Bridge, Police Suspect Suicide Bid

Mangaluru News: A Karnataka businessman's damaged car was found near a bridge after he disappeared early in the morning. Further investigation is ongoing.

A businessman from Karnataka has gone missing, with his damaged car found near a bridge in Mangaluru, police stated on Sunday. Mumthaz Ali, the brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLC BM Farooq and former Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava, disappeared early in the morning, triggering a large-scale search operation by the police. According to the police, his BMW had "accident-related marks".

“As per the preliminary investigation, around 3 am, he left his house in his car and roamed around the city. Around 5 am, he stopped his car near the Kulur bridge in Mangaluru. The car had certain accident-related marks, and after that, his daughter informed the local police,” Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Anupam Agrawal, said, news agency ANI reported.

Agrawal also suggested that Ali might have jumped from the bridge, leading to a search operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Coast Guard in the river. "SDRF and Coast Guard teams are searching the river to determine if he jumped in or if there is any other development," he said adding that further investigation is ongoing.

Missing Complaint Helps Cops To Unearth Teenager's Years Of Sexual Exploitation By Father

A 46-year-old man was apprehended in Mumbai for allegedly sexually assaulting his teenage daughter for around five years at their home in the Mahalaxmi area of the city. His crimes came to light after the 17-year-old victim went missing from their home on Wednesday. When the accused didn't find her, he approached the Tardeo police station and lodged a complaint alleging his daughter had been kidnapped.

Upon his complaint, a kidnapping case was registered against an unidentified person, and a search was launched for the teenager, according to police officials. However, during the investigation, it turned out he had been allegedly sexually assaulting her for the last five years, therefore she left home in Mumbai to escape the ordeal.

The teenager told the police that her father had been sexually assaulting her for the last five years.

As per the complaint, a case of rape and other offences was filed against the accused and he was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official said.

Later, a crime branch team led by Police Inspector, Sadanand Yerekar, began a search for the girl's father. He was tracked down in the Saat Rasta Circle area and subsequently nabbed.
