A man in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district brutally attacked his wife over suspicion of infidelity. The man reportedly gouged out both her eyes with a knife and even inflicted multiple injuries, including on her private parts.
The incident occured in the Pohri area on Wednesday. Police have identified the accused as Chhotu Khan. He demanded his wife's mobile phone, but when she refused, she was attacked with a knife. The 24-year-old victim's condition remains critical, Times Of India reported.
The couple had been married for three years and frequently engaged in arguments. After attacking his wife, the man fled the scene, sources told TOI.
It was only after the neighbours alerted the victim's family, that she was rushed to the district hospital, covered in blood. The police were also informed of the crime.
Police authorities are currently recording statements from the victim and her family. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to track down the absconding husband. Police have assured that he will be arrested soon.
Assam Man Kills Wife, Daughter After Coming Out Of Jail
In another case, a man killed her 42-year-old wife and her daughter and later died by suicide by hanging himself inside their house in Guwahati, Assam, police said on Wednesday.
The murders took place days after the man came out of jail. He had been incarcerated after being charged with sexually harassing the deceased girl, who was the daughter of the woman from her first husband.
In July last year, the woman, who worked in Northeast Frontier Railway as a diesel engine helper, had lodged an FIR against her husband accusing him of sexually harassing her daughter. Thereafter, a case under POCSO was registered and the man was sent to jail.
The murders took place at the woman's official quarter in Bamunimaidam area of the state capital, DCP (Central) Amitabh Basumatary told PTI.
The deceased have been identified as Juli Deka, her 15-year-old daughter and the man, Lohit Thakuria (47).
