In a road rage incident, a biker and his son were graciously injured, while his wife and daughter were killed after five men chased the family's two-wheeler and rammed it from in Maharashtra's Latur last week. The men in the car were reportedly livid at being warned by a motorcyclist over rash driving. The incident happened last Sunday (September 29), where the accused also hurled communal abuses at 27-year-old Shaikh Sadiq Usman and his family.
According to reports, Sadiq Sheikh, his wife, Ikra Sheikh (23), and their two children, Nadia, 6, and Ahad, were travelling the Latur-Ausa highway when a speeding car driven by a man under the influence cut their motorcycle off dangerously. After the near-miss, Sadiq approached the driver and requested him to drive more carefully.
The verbal exchange escalated into a heated argument, after which the enraged car driver initially allowed Sadiq to pass. But later, the four-wheeler chased the bike and rammed it into the family from behind.
Due to the impact of the crash, Ikra and Nadia was killed on the spot, while Sadiq and his son Ahad were critically injured and rushed to Latur's government hospital for treatment. . Initially, the family thought it was just an accident. However, upon regaining consciousness the next day, Shaikh told his elder brother that were targeted.
As per police, the driver and four others present in the car were arrested. The arrested accused include Digambar Patole, Krishna Waghe, Basavaraj Dhotre, Manoj Mane, and another person. Police have booked them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to reckless driving and causing death by negligence.
Later, a video surfaced on social media purportedly depicting one of the accused narrating the chronology of events. In the video, the man can be heard narrating how they ran over the bike-borne family from behind. He also named his fellow accomplices and the fact that they were all drunk.
