Lucknow: A woman travelling on a motorbike was harassed by a group of men on a flooded road in Lucknow on Wednesday. A video of the incident is going viral on the internet which shows the woman, on a pillion with a man, being harassed by a group of men on a waterlogged road in the Uttar Pradesh capital. The incident has drawn widespread attention on social media and drawing criticism.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday under the Taj Hotel bridge in the UP capital during the day.
In the video, a group of men gathered under the bridge on a water-logged road surrounded the bike on which the woman and the man were riding. As they were crossing the flooded road, the group of men, who were already present there, start splashing water on the riders. They repeatedly did this together, which made it difficult for the duo to pass the road as it was already pouring.
A few men even tried to pull the bike from behind, which led the duo to fall off the bike on the flooded road during heavy rain.
The visuals also showed a man allegedly groping the woman before pulling the bike. When the woman fell off the bike, a man helped her to get up.
The police then intervened to disperse the crowd under the bridge. The cops are working to identify the men who were involved in harassing the man and the woman on the waterlogged road.
Several social media users on X expressed their outrage at the men's behaviour and criticised the incident.
"This nuisance is not a part of Lucknow’s culture…! You can yourself guess how high the spirits of the miscreants are in Yogi Raj by watching the video. The video has gone viral, now maybe Baba’s police will take some action….!," a user wrote, sharing videos of the incident.
Uttar Pradesh has been receiving heavy rainfall since the last few days. On Wednesday, the heavy rain also caused flooding in some parts of the Vidhan Sabha building, where the Monsoon session of the state Assembly is being conducted.
