A man out on bail in an accusation of killing a woman in 2019 reportedly hacked to death her husband and mother-in-law on Monday in the Palakkad district of Kerala. The identified accused, Chenthamara, was arrested after he hacked to death a woman named Sajitha in August 2019.

Since 2022, he had been in prison until he was released on bail. But, on Monday, he killed the woman's husband identified as Sudhakaran, 56, and mother-in-law Lakshmi, 75.

According to a report by Indian Express, Alathur Deputy Superintendent of Police, N Muraleedharan, stated that Chenthamara was staying alone after his wife had abandoned him years earlier ahead of the 2019 murder.

“He believed that his wife had walked out of his life because of black magic performed by neighbours, especially the family of Sudhakaran. Chenthamara was a strong believer in black magi,” the DySP said.

Deceased's Daughter Claims No Response From Police After Complaint Of Threat

Accusing police, Sudhakaran’s daughter, Akhil, stated that the family had complained about a threat from the accused, but no response was taken from the police end. “My father had faced a threat from Chenthamara. We had complained to the police and they never took action against him. He was summoned to the police station and then released. In 2019, I lost my mother, and now my father too,” she added.

Further, DySP Muraleedharan confirmed that a search operation is underway for the accused. “We have launched a massive hunt for the accused. The family had been facing a threat from Chenthamara and police had warned him after summoning to the station.”

Sources also indicated that following the 2019 murder, Chenthamara had moved out of the neighbourhood before he got arrested. However, he frequently used to visit the area and threaten Sudhakaran’s family.
