'Failure Of Central Agencies..': Karnataka Home Minister On Arrests Of Foreign Nationals With 'Fake' Passports

The four individuals, who had reportedly entered India in 2014, were apprehended by Bengaluru police after it was discovered they had obtained Indian passport and Aadhaar card under false identities.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara expressed his concerns over the lapses of central agencies following the arrest of four foreign nationals residing illegally in Bengaluru’s Jigani area. The four individuals, who had reportedly entered India in 2014, were apprehended by the Bengaluru police after it was discovered they had obtained Indian passports and Aadhaar cards under false identities.

On 4 people arrested from Bengaluru Rural for allegedly possessing fake Indian passports, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said, "They (Centre) have RAW, IB and other central agencies, they should keep an eye on these things. How they reached Bengaluru and got passports, shows the failure of central agencies. When our police got information they did an excellent job by arresting them. We got further information about some more Pakistani people staying here they will also be arrested."

Addressing the media, Parameshwara stated that the central agencies had failed to maintain adequate surveillance on such cases. According to the initial investigation, the foreign nationals had only moved to Bengaluru within the past year. However, details surrounding their activities and reasons for being in the city remain under investigation.

He said that the four persons changed their names. They also reportedly changed their identify cards into 'fake' Indian passports and Aadhar cards.

Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba confirmed that a case has been filed and investigations are in progress. He stated that the individuals held fake Indian passports and they were in the process of verifying the details.
