A video has surfaced showing the patient's family members assaulting both the guards and doctors reportedly over a delay in treatment at the M.Y. Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to information, around 11 p.m. on Tuesday (November 12), a fight broke out between the two parties, quickly escalating into a violent clash. A family with a child receiving treatment in the PICU demanded a separate bed.
The doctors tried to explain that the PICU was full and no additional bed was available. Hearing this, the family members began verbally abusing the doctors on duty.
Family Threatens To Kill
When the doctors attempted to calm them down, the family grew even more aggressive and threatened to kill them if their demands were not met. Seven doctors were on duty in the PICU of the new chest ward that night.
Furthermore, the family summoned a dozen armed individuals who entered the wing and began assaulting the doctors on duty. The altercation turned bloody, leaving nearly all seven doctors injured. The accused reportedly attacked Dr. Shwetank, Dr. Santosh, Dr. V Keshav, guard Radha Joshi, and another guard in the hospital.
As the conflict escalated, police were called. They arrived in time to intervene and prevent any serious injuries. A formal complaint about the incident was filed with the police by Dr. Shwetank Soni.
A case of assault has been registered against Deepak Solanki, Pradeep Solanki, and their associates. Two of the accused have been taken into custody, and the search for the other suspects is ongoing.
Chennai Doctor Stabbed By Patient's Son
In a similar incident, a government hospital doctor in Chennai, Tamil Nadu was stabbed seven times on Wednesday morning - by a young man whose mother had been treated for cancer by the same doctor six months ago.
According to a report by NDTV, the doctor, an oncologist, is also a heart patient and suffered injuries to his upper chest and head. He is in critical but his condition has improved, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said. A senior doctor stated that his colleague had a pacemaker cut on his forehead and back, and was also attacked on his stomach.
