Godhra news: A case for attempted theft was filed against the victim, while the two accused face charges of wrongful confinement, assault, and insulting behaviour.
Godhra news: A man was allegedly assaulted and tied to the bonnet of a car before being driven around in the Panchmahal district of Gujarat by two individuals who accused him of stealing from a shop, a police official reported on Saturday.
The incident occurred on August 29 in Kanku Thambla village in Godhra taluka after the victim was reportedly caught attempting to steal fertiliser from a shop, Deputy Superintendent of Police, NY Patel, told news agency PTI.
Videos captured by bystanders, which were shared on social media, showed the victim tied to the car's hood with a rope and being driven through a market.

Godhra Viral Video: Police Lodge FIR Into Viral Video
"After Godhra taluka police were alerted to the incident due to the videos, a case was registered against the victim Surjan Bhavri (30) for attempted theft. An FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered against Ganpatsinh Parmar and Manubhai Charan for alleged wrongful confinement, assault, causing insult etc," an official told PTI.
Gujarat: In Kankuthambla, Godhra, a video of a young man being tied to a car went viral. The man was caught attempting to steal from a pesticides and fertilizer shop. The shopkeeper and his associate tied him to the car's bonnet with a rope and assaulted him.

Bhavri claimed that he had taken three packets of seeds worth Rs 30 but forgot to pay for them, according to the Godhra taluka police station official. "As per Bavri, the shopkeeper, thinking he had paid Rs 500, returned Rs 470. However, the shopkeeper then chased him, accused him of theft, and assaulted him. Probe into the claims and counterclaims is underway," the official further stated.
