A gym trainer was shot at in the early hours of Thursday in Delhi's Trilokpuri area. The victim, Ravi Yadav (32) was sitting with his friends at a park in the Trilokpuri area at around 12:30 am when armed miscreants opened fire at him and fled from the place.
Ravi was admitted to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital but was later referred to Max Hospital as his condition remained critical. The police have identified the accused as Sunil alias Golu and his two associates Rohit and Rahul who have been arrested. Sunil is on the run and the police said he will be also arrested soon.
According to preliminary investigation, the attack appears to stem from an old emnity between the two sides, as per the police. The families of the two parties have been in dispute since a long time. In March, Ravi had attacked Sunil with knife and was booked for attempt to murder.
According to sources, Ravi's uncle, Virendra Yadav is an advocate at Karkardooma court and has filed several complaints and RTIs against Sunil's brother Vipin due to which he allegedly lost his job.
The dispute appeared to be over this issue. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and a probe is underway.
Kejriwal, Sisodia Slam BJP
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal slammed the Centre over the incident saying criminals no longer fear of law and order.
"Another morning with heartbreaking news. Bullets are being fired openly. Delhi's criminals no longer have any fear of law and order," Kejriwal said in a post on X.
Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also came down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre saying it failed to handle the law and order in the national capital.
"The people of Delhi had given only one task to BJP - to maintain law and order. But BJP is not able to handle even that," Sisodia said in a post on X.
"The courage of criminals has increased so much that such heartbreaking news comes from different corners of Delhi every time. Such a bad state of law and order has never been seen in the country's capital," he added.
The development came within a week after a firing incident in the city's Shahdara area sent ripples across the national capital. Two bike-borne assailants opened fire at a man who was out for a morning walk on Saturday. At least seven bullets were fired at the man resulting in his death.
The incident took place in Vishwas Nagar under the Farsh Bazar Police Station. A police team rushed to the spot after getting a PCR call about the incident. The victim was identified as a 52-year-old businessman, Sunil Jain.
He was returning home from his daily morning walk at Yamuna Sports Complex when two persons on a motorcycle shot at him.
