The five-year-old boy from Rajasthan, Aryan who was stuck in a borewell died on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday after being pulled out following a rescue operation that spanned 56 hours.

The boy fell into the 150-foot-deep open borewell on Monday while playing on an agricultural farm in Kalikhad village. The incident took place at around 3 p.m., and the rescue operations began an hour later.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and civil Defence teams reached the spot and began the operation by digging a parallel borewell to reach him, while also supplying him with oxygen through a pipe. Several earthmovers and tractors were deployed to dig the parallel hole.

However, on Monday, no movement was observed from the child's side despite the medical team constantly supplying oxygen.

The rescue teams continued efforts to rescue the child by digging around a 125-foot hole but due to a technical glitch, the operation was stalled by three to four hours.

Several hours after the operation resumed, the rescuers reached Aryan who was rushed to a hospital in an advanced life support system ambulance but doctors declared him dead, according to local media reports.

" The child was brought here so that we could try and revive him if possible...we did ECG twice and the child has been declared dead," said Deepak Sharma, Chief Medical Officer at Government District Hospital, Dausa.

Following the heartbreaking news, Aryan's mother's health deteriorated as her blood pressure increased due to anxiety. Both the parents had not eaten anything for the past two days which also worsened their health, according to doctors.
