As many as 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max phones, launched recently, have been seized from a woman passenger at the Delhi Airport. The woman had concealed the phones inside her vanity bag and wrapped them in tissue papers, Delhi Customs officials said.

The woman was travelling to Delhi from Hong Kong. Officials said an investigation is on.

"A lady passenger travelling from Hongkong to Delhi carrying 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max concealed inside her vanity bag (wrapped in tissue paper) was intercepted at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, the officials said, adding that further investigation was underway," the Delhi customs officials said. The Pro Max is the top model in the iPhone 16 series and the smuggled phones are estimated to be worth over ₹37 lakh.

The incident comes a day after a man ordered an iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh online and allegedly killed the delivery agent when he came to his home to deliver the phone in Lucknow. The accused along with his accomplice dumped the body of the 30-year-old victim into the Indira Canal in the city. A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been called to find it, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh said one of the accused men, Gajanan, had ordered the iPhone worth about ₹1.5 lakh from Flipkart and opted for COD (Cash on Delivery) payment.

The officer added that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team is trying to find the body of the victim in the canal.
