A 26-year-old dancer was allegedly held captive for three days and raped by a man in his flat in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday. The suspect was identified as Vinay Gupta, who is also an event manager by profession.

Police told news agency PTI that Gupta contacted the victim, originally from Ghaziabad and employed as a dancer, for an event in Agra. On October 8, Gupta brought her to his residence, where his wife allegedly gave her tea laced with sedatives, causing her to lose consciousness.

"When she woke up she found herself tied in a room," the woman informed the police. She told police that Gupta kept her hostage for three days and raped her. She added that he suggested her to become a prostitute to make extra money.
