Chennai Power Cut On February 8, 2025: Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in specific areas of the city on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The power shutdown would be experienced as TANGEDCO would be engaged in essential maintenance work during the said period.


On Saturday, the affected area will be Mogappair and the localities include: Ambethkar Nagar, 9th Main Road, Mogappair ERI Scheme, 8th Street, Golden Flats, Golden Colony, Lavanyam Apartment, Fire Service Quarters, Mugappair Road, Sathya Nagar, Mathiyazhagan Nagar, Church Road, School Street, reported Live Chennai. 


However, TANGEDCO has assured that power supply will be restored earlier if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule. The residents have also been requested to cooperate with the schedule. These power cut are part of scheduled shutdown to help with the maintenance of overall power systems. 


Meanwhile, on Friday, February 7, parts of Chennai also experienced power outages due to the maintenance work. As per reports, around 110 localities were affected, including Nolambur, Siruseri, Sothuperumbedu, Kavanur, Ayapakkam, Manapakkam, and Thiruverkadu.

Bengaluru Power Shutdown


The Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has also announced power disruptions in various parts of the city and surrounding regions for over 10 days due to certain work, as per a report on One India. 


Between February 6 and 17, 2025, BESCOM said that these outages are due to critical infrastructure upgrades under the Atal Bhujal project, impacting BESCOM’s city subdivision, Part 1.


Power will be disrupted between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the following dates and locations:


February 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18: Govindnagar, Housing Board, Gubbi Gate, Kuntammanatota, Ditturu, B.H. Paly, Honnenahalli Road, and Haronahalli.


February 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17: Hanumantapura, Kuvempu Nagar, Adarsha Nagar, Anetota, Jagannathapura, Sharadadevi Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, and Nirvani Layout, as per Jagran.


Residents in affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and make necessary arrangements during the scheduled outages.
