In a heart-breaking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad on Wednesday night, a four-year-old girl made a video call to her grandmother to showed her the lifeless body of her mother hanging in their home. She told her grandmother, "Papa hung mom. She is not responding."

The grandmother, who was in utter shock, immediately alerted the police and the other family members. As per the details, the child's father, a software engineer from Modinagar, Ghaziabad, was taken into custody before dawn on Thursday, The Times Of India reported.

The victim is identified as Ruby Rani (35). She was a teacher at a primary school in Bikampur Kulwada, Kundarki Block, Moradabad. The woman is originally from Jalalpur, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad. She had married Rohit in 2019 and had been living with him and their daughter in a rented house in Buddhi Vihar Colony, Moradabad.

SP (city) Ranvijay Singh said, "Rohit has been taken into custody for questioning. A case is being registered, and the investigation will proceed based on the post-mortem report." The police is looking into what happened before the call was made. A forensic team has also examined the scene.

However, the family claims this wasn't suicide. They have alleged that it was murder, and it has been staged to look like one. They alleged that Rohit was pressuring Ruby for money and the couple had frequent disputes over finances.

On the day of incidenrt, Rohit had transferred Rs 50,000 from her bank account to his own. The couple also had a house in Modinagar, for which Ruby had been paying the instalments as Rohit stopped contributing to it.

Her parents told police that Rohit wanted to sell the house. However, when she refused, Rohit tortured her, parents alleged. "He wanted to sell the house. She refused. He tortured her in various ways," her parents said.

While the family insists Rohit murdered Ruby and staged the hanging as suicide, police are also investigating the possibility that she took her own life. According to officers, Ruby had called Rohit before the incident and told him that she would commit suicide. Police have seized Rohit's mobile phone, laptop, and other electronic evidence as part of their investigation.
