Chennai news: Travelers using Chennai International Airport (MAA) can expect periodic flight disruptions and airspace closures from October 1-8 in preparation for the Indian Air Force Day celebrations. The disruptions are linked to the 92nd anniversary air show, featuring aerial performances scheduled for Oct. 6 at Marina Beach.

Airspace closures will occur in intervals ranging from 15 minutes to two hours, with the following timings: Oct. 1: 13:45-15:15, Oct. 2: 11:00-13:00, Oct. 3: 10:45-11:00, Oct. 4: 11:00-13:00, Oct. 5: 10:45-11:00 and 14:00-15:00, Oct. 6: 11:00-13:00, Oct. 7: 10:45-11:00 and Oct. 8: 10:45-11:00.

These closures may result in flight delays with potential lingering effects after normal operations resume as airlines work to manage backlogs. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates and plan for possible disruptions during this period.

In a tweet, Chennai airport said, “To ensure minimal disruptions, the airport has shared a detailed schedule of these closures, ranging from 15 minutes to two hours at various intervals.
