Bengaluru: Bomb Threats Trigger Panic At BMS, MS Ramaiah, BIT Colleges; Search Initiated To Verify Claims

Bengaluru news: Prominent educational institutions in Bengaluru, including BMS College, MS Ramaiah College, and BIT College, received bomb threats on Friday leading to widespread panic across the campuses. Bengaluru South Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) confirmed that specialized teams, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), are actively verifying the bomb threats.

A case has been registered at Hanumanthnagar Police Station. Authorities swiftly responded by deploying the BDDS to search the premises for any potential danger. DCP Bengaluru city, Lokesh Jagalasar said, "Three colleges received the bomb threat from a single source through e-mail... In addition to the complaint, we are finding out if the issue is real or a hoax..."

The email were sent to the colleges with subject "Hydrogen based improvised EDs placed in listed colleges by Pak ISI cells from Coimbatore. Evacate before 5 PM today."

Further, the mail read: "I am informing to you for the welfare of the students. Please clear out students before Noon to be safe and call BOSS. if local BOSS not available call Airforce BDSS but evacuate students by 12. We don't want this pavam to affect our son and we want a clear conscience. Kindly don't mention my involvement."

Earlier, on Friday, a similar incident unfolded at Taj West End hotel on Racecourse Road which received a bomb threat via email. The hotel staff immediately informed the police prompting a thorough search by the police. Later, the threat was declared a hoax after an investigation.

Earlier, for the second consecutive day, several schools in Trichy received bomb threats through email. The bomb squads were immediately rushed to the spot to verify the claims.
