Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the formation of a special investigation team into the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old girls by a male cleaning staff member inside a girls' washroom. The SIT will be headed by  Inspector General of Police level senior IPS officer Arti Singh. 


Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that he has taken cogonisance of the matter and added that action will be taken against the school. 


"I have taken serious cognizance of the incident in Badlapur. An SIT is already formed in this matter and we are also going to take action against the school where the incident took place. We are in the process to fast-track this case, and no one will be spared if found guilty," he said, reported ANI. 


State education minister Deepak Kesarkar held a press conference on Tuesday and said that a notice has been issued to the school and four teachers have been arrested.

"We had asked all the schools to install CCTV cameras but this school did not have it," said the minister, adding that an investigation will be done for the same. 


Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Kesarkar who briefed the CM about the situation. The minister said that the case will be taken to a fast track court. 


The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister  are keeping an eye on this matter and that incident i being taken very seriously, he said during a press conference on Tuesday. 


Kesarkar said that the incident took place between August 13 and August 16 while the complaint was registered by the police on August 18. The police did not register the complaint till 12 hours and action has been taken against a senior police inspector who has been transferred.
